If it’s time to replace your old clothesline, or you want to install one for the first time, you might be wondering which clothesline will suit your requirements best. In this buyer’s guide, we break down the benefits of the different models we sell, to help you choose.
Fixed head hoist
- Size: 4 to 5 metres in diameter
- Drying space: 40 to 50 metres
Ideal for: Large families, king-sized-sheets, heavy loads, large gardens
Benefits: Large, durable, low maintenance, fast drying times
Keep in mind: Cannot be folded down
Folding head hoist
- Size: 2.9 to 4 metres in diameter
- Drying space: 34 to 58 metres
Ideal for: Medium to large families, large loads, medium gardens
Benefits: Plenty of drying space, can be folded down or removed completely when not in use
Keep in mind: Lines are often closer together on these models, so drying times may be a little slower, and the extra moving parts may require some ongoing maintenance
Folding frame
- Size: 1.2 to 3.3 metres long and 0.6 to 1.5 metres deep
- Drying space: 14 to 39 metres
Ideal for: Single people, couples, small to medium families, small properties, undercover drying
Benefits: Wide range of sizes, folds away when not in use, easy to fit in narrow spaces and in carports or under eaves
Keep in mind: It may not accommodate very big loads, but this can be solved by installing two folding frame lines side-by-side
Retractable
- Size: 2 to 8 metres long and up to 1 metre wide
- Drying space: 26 to 40 metres
Ideal for: Single people, couples, small to medium families, small properties, balconies, laundries, carports
